I feel the same way - I've tried the 5 AM club, and force myself to meditate.
What worked for me is having a routine I enjoy waking up to - before my son's birth, it was 5 AM and a triathlon training. The fact that I enjoyed the training made it much easier to stick to.
I wake up around 4:30-5:00, when the kid wakes up. I stay with him until 8:00, and the go to work. At 18:00 I return, with the showers and dinner and everything it's suddenly 20:30.. I try to catch up with things for an hour and then go to bed :)

It's hard being a dad, but it seems like you still manage to get so many things done!
